Taylor's 7th Birthday Party

We had Taylor's 7th Birthday Party over the weekend. She was really wanting a swimming party this year and since we don't have a pool, our great neighbors offered their pool for us to host our party. It was so much fun and the weather was great! Here are some pics from the pool!

Addicted to Reading

Ok, I must admit that I am addicted to reading an author I just found out about. I have already finished two of her books and I am halfway through the third and I just started reading her books 2 weeks ago! For a busy Mom of two, that's pretty impressive. Anyway, some of you may have already read her, but her books are so awesome! Her name is Jodi Picoult and if you have not read anything by her, be prepared to become sucked in! I find myself not being able to put the books down and I have to say, I have not been this excited about an author in a while.

Ok, enough about that. Things around here are going great and the school year is officially here for both Taylor and Josh. Josh started K3 last week and really seems to enjoy his new teacher Ms. Tracy. Taylor has quite a bit of homework this year and I am so blessed to have a husband who has the patience and gift of helping her with it. It makes me love him even more to watch him with her every night. THANKS so much, Freddie!

Well, that's about all I can say right now, just wanted to get a few thoughts out there. Got to go and start some dinner.

My First Grader

Taylor and I went to her school today for First Grade orientation and I have to admit, I was kind of sad. I have always been ok with her going to school the last couple of years, but this year is bothering me. The whole "first grader" thing is slapping me in the face hard. I realize now that she is slowly becoming a more independent young lady and that time will go by even faster now. I hope that this year we all take time to enjoy the few quiet times we have and I hope that I can savor every minute of it. I Love You, Taylor!

My First Blog

Ok, I am totally new to this, but I have really enjoyed reading another friend's blog and thought I would give this a try. For those who actually take the time to read this, I will not be using our names for security reasons, but code names. For those of you who know us, you should be able to figure it out.

Children say the sweetest things sometimes and I just have to share one with everybody that came out of my daughter's mouth around Christmas time. As some of you may know, she attends a private, Christian school and as much as I fought my husband on the idea of spending money to send our kids there when we have great public schools in our area, there are times like these that I don't mind writing that check out every month.

It was during the busy shopping time over the holidays and we were driving around the Homewood area to find a parking space. We were planning on meeting a friend for lunch and as I am circling around the same block over and over, in the most serious voice she says, "Mommy, is this Bethlehem?" I say no, honey, why? She says, "Because there's no room!" For those of you who don't know the song, there is a Christmas song that says 'No Room, No Room, says the men in Bethlehem. I just thought that was the cutest thing.

Anyway, now that I have rambled on, I hope you enjoy my new venture and I must go and cook dinner.
